There is a massive difference between exploring consensual BDSM dynamics and writing a straight-up abusive monster, and Comfort Object completely obliterates that line. His behavior is downright vile, and it is impossible to root for him.
Then there is the heroine, and calling her a doormat feels like an understatement. She treats herself like a literal floor rag. She lacks any shred of self-respect, agency, or basic backbone. Reading about a protagonist with such non-existent self-esteem who continuously allows herself to be degraded is not entertaining—it's just an exercise in extreme, painful frustration.
The entire dynamic between them is deeply toxic and deeply unpleasant to read. There is no romance to be found here, just cruelty masked as edgy fiction.
Do yourself a massive favor and avoid this book at all costs. Don't waste your time or your peace of mind.
The acting the quality of the sound also was aweful and annoying. The woman can’t read a book without making noises and extreme long países where shouldn’t and also there was a lot of background blank noise.
