Yes, there were elements that I already knew from other fantasy books, but everything put together, it still felt refreshing and original. The pacing? A dream! I love it when there is time for character development and for them to really get to know each other. The characters? Hell yes! Priska has made such a development and is a certified badass. The further the story went, the more I liked her. Lorian is absolutely morally grey and thirsty for Priska and I am HERE FOR IT! Their romance is so authentic, I loved the slow burn. A lot of side characters, a few of them a bit shallow (like Priska's BFF) but many very loveable and original, like the “mercenaries” and her brothers!! The world building was intriguing and still easy to follow and I enjoyed the different settings - the village, the journey, the castle etc. Some twists were a bit predictable but it made me just happy to know, that I was right hehe. The narrators did both a splendid job. So, YEAH, you should definitely give this a listen!
