Acerca de este título

In a world darkened by deceit, the truth is a light that won’t be dimmed—even when it illuminates Lorian’s betrayals more starkly than I could ever want to see.

They call him the Bloodthirsty Prince. His reign of terror has left a trail of blood across this continent, a trail that intertwines with my own past—not even my parents were spared from his merciless slaughter.

To save my brother’s life, I agreed to another bargain with the fae prince. Now, I’m forced to work with him, to travel to the fae lands, to spend my every waking moment with the man who betrayed me. All because King Sabium has woven a deadly tapestry of manipulation, using those we least suspect for his wicked schemes.

There are no lines I won’t cross to protect the people I love. So I’ll work with former enemies. I’ll manipulate, blackmail, and deceive potential allies. I’ll swallow my pride, bury my shattered heart, and cooperate with the fae to prepare for the coming war.

Because there are creatures far more monstrous than the fae—and some of them masquerade as men.

Book two of this slow-burn enemies-to-lovers series will enchant fans of fantasy romance who love Raven Kennedy, Amanda Bouchet, and Carissa Broadbent.

Ok, so: I rushed into this audiobook, bc I loved the first book of the series. So maybe my expectations were too high - way too high. This book is clearly a filler. Which would've been perfectly fine, in filler books, since filler books are usually where we get character and relashionship development. But alas, that absolutley did not happen. Prisca, I liked her so much! Which makes it all the more painful that the author decided that her entire personality should now be "everything is my fault, I feel guilty for EVERYTHING". I couldn't stand the constant guilt trips that were so obviously unnecessary. And in book 1 she was often determined and cunning, here? Nothing. I mean, can we talk about how she thought throwing Lorian of that horse was a smart move? Und why is her ability so inconsistent? Without explanation she sometimes freezes time for that feels like hours and than again she manages only seconds.
Lorian lost his personality completely. He became bland and his only character trait now is lusting after Prsica. And the spice? Ugh, so repetetive, there was so much potential, with Lorian being headstrong and dominant, what a waste. Their relashionship became so boring especially since it was clear from the very beginning that they are mates.
The side characters? Prisca's BFF is slowly growing a backbone and feelings for Demos, which was one of the rare good tropes here. But don't get me started on her aunt, the village boy or the mercenary friend, who got introduced and killed within a few pages. Unnecessary and plain annoying, all of them.
Then the plot: unfortunatly, so little happened. There are holes and the characters are making nonsensical decisions over and over. The writing itself was often repetitive, the only improvment was that we got finally more discriptions of things.
The last 5 minutes were the most exciting (made little sense though - why did 5 people not manage to overpower him?)
The narrators carried me through the book - they've done mostly a lovely job (Lorian's narrator felt at times more like the was just reading, not acting, but oh well)
