Acerca de este título
Jack McMaster seemingly has it all. A beautiful house, a loving son of many talents (including cooking, which is great news for Jack, if not for his waistline), even a special bond with his buddies in his ball hockey league. But he’s also learning to live with loss, leaving a gaping hole in his life—a life that will never be the same as before. Jack passes his days knowing he has the support of his family and his friends, but he can’t shake the feeling that his life has gone gray, and that time is slipping by so quickly.
Then, a short and shocking video from an unexpected source gives him the gumption to make a change and maybe even haul himself out of his melancholia. Inspired by his lifelong fascination with 1920s Paris, Jack finally visits the City of Light, following in the footsteps of Hemingway and Fitzgerald, and wandering the Left Bank. Slowly, the colour seeps back into his life, aided by a chance encounter in a café that leads Jack into the art world, and a Paris mystery nearly a century old.
Narrated with sincerity and warmth by Terry, and featuring performances of two of his original songs, A New Season shows us all that sometimes, making a change in your life can save your life.
Reseñas de la crítica
INSTANT NATIONAL BESTSELLER
"It’s about grief, friendship, family and, most of all, love, with humour taking a backseat for a change. And because of the warmth of the characters, the Parisian locale and a few twists of fate, Fallis’s foray into more serious content succeeds."”
—Winnipeg Free Press
"More than a love story, this was a love song in novel format. . . . This book is sentimental, relatable with Canadian layers and some Paris filling to make it sweeter. . . . As we age, while we grow, Fallis teaches us to live."
—Miramichi Reader
Praise for Terry Fallis:
"Terry Fallis writes just about the tidiest romantic comedic novels you can find on Earth, let alone in Canada."
—Globe and Mail
"Not too many Canucks have ventured to write humorous books. There is Stephen Leacock, of course. And Robertson Davies cranked out a couple . . . Count Terry Fallis among the few to achieve success at the form."
—Ottawa Citizen
"One of CanLit's crowned king of chuckles . . . Fallis is a gifted storyteller."
—Telegraph-Journal
"Terry Fallis is a brilliant and very funny writer who also understands the human heart. His words will split your side on one page, and put a lump in your throat the next. You'll not only come to like his quirky characters, you'll want to meet them, and take care of them, too. Terry Fallis is a writer to watch, and more importantly, to read."
—Ali Velshi, NBC News
"Fallis writes from another time, when Wodehouse and Leacock and Twain roamed the earth. May he never become extinct."
—Linwood Barclay
