An educational podcast for children in which we travel back in time to the 1st century AD to visit Hispania and learn about life on the Iberian Peninsula under the Roman Empire. In this episode of "History Has a Voice," we will land in the city of Emerita Augusta (now Mérida) to chat with a young Roman woman who will open the doors of her "domus" to us.

Our guest belongs to a wealthy family that moved from Rome to administer the province. Through her eyes, we will discover what Roman cities were like—centers full of life with forums for trade and thermal baths for relaxation—and we will see that some high-ranking women received a privileged education, learning Latin, Greek, and rhetoric.

Hispania was a key land for Rome. It was rich in oil, metals, and culture and it was where Roman traditions mixed with local customs. We will talk about the origin of the Romance languages (such as Spanish), the impressive engineering of Roman aqueducts and theaters, and curious traditions such as the Saturnalia festivals, where slaves and masters exchanged roles.

In this episode, we will tour an authentic Roman house, understand the importance of the influence of the Roman Empire and discover why its buildings are still standing after two thousand years. A fun and educational journey to connect with our most classical past.
