“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” What a beautiful start to one of my favorite Christmas songs. Upbeat and cheerful, it describes the many festivities of a truly joyous season. But for all the joy of the song, it doesn’t really mention anything about why we are celebrating, why we feel differently or why it’s the best time of the year beyond the jingle belling, hosting of parties, and greetings of cheer.
To truly feel the depth of the celebration, we need to understand the why of the season, to feel it to the depth of our beings, to experience something so miraculous and so unbelievable that our souls forever yearn to celebrate the beauty of it, in season and out.
To do this, we need to travel back in time, long before the giving of the presents, the parties, the amazing decorations, delectable feasts and desserts, and the wondrous music to reveal the soul-moving, eternally life-changing meaning of this time of year.
