When real estate salesman Ed Fletcher arrives at his office a few minutes late, he steps into a nightmare. The familiar world has turned ash-grey—buildings, furniture, and people are entirely frozen, mid-transformation, dissolving into fine powder as unseen force fields alter reality itself.
Ed has stumbled across the terrifying inner machinery of the universe: the Adjustment Team. Guided by an enigmatic Overseer, these shadowy manipulators alter subtle details of everyday life to keep human history on its intended track. But Ed was never meant to see behind the curtain.
Now, hunted by relentless agents who can rewrite reality with a word, Ed must run for his life alongside Ruth, the only person who might anchor him to true reality. Caught in a high-stakes, time-bending game of cat and mouse through a collapsing city, Ed has to ask himself: how far will he go to keep his own fate in his hands?
First published in 1954 and the inspiration for the hit feature film The Adjustment Bureau, Philip K. Dick’s gripping sci-fi thriller explores paranoia, free will, and the delicate illusion of the world we take for granted.
Masterfully narrated by Shaun Acker, this fast-paced, immersive audio production brings Dick's iconic temporal paradox to life in vivid, edge-of-your-seat detail.
