A corpse in a Turkish bath. Roving bands of the insane released from their asylums. Two trials. And a law student for the defense.
When an earthquake shakes the city and the debris-ridden alleyways of the Casbah resound with cries for help and sighs of grief, Muhammad steps in with legal aid for an enslaved manservant accused of murder and a maidservant he knows only as An Admirer of Books. Seeking justice in court, Muhammad turns to his knowledge of the law. But will the dangerous enemy he makes in court ruin Muhammad’s makeshift defense?
And what has the madman who lost his family at sea, and his mind in the notorious Arsenal of Toulon, to do with any of this?
An Admirer of Books, the second installment in the Muhammad Amalfi Mystery Series, is about identity, fidelity, struggle, justice, and more. If you like fast-paced historical fiction set in unusual places, then you will definitely love this book by author AJ Lewis.
AN ADMIRER OF BOOKS placed First in the Unpublished Historical Fiction category of the 2018 Royal Palms Literary Awards hosted by the Florida Writers Association.
