At the age of 16, Eric started commuting to NYC from his suburban home in New Jersey to perform in open mics. We watch him move across the country 8 times in an effort to make a living as a comedian.

The audiobook begins with a near-death teen suicide story, where Eric encounters a demon who grants him his life in exchange for a contract. After a painful reordering of his priorities and expectations to pursue happiness, Eric embarks on the solitary mission of becoming the funniest person in the world.
The path is wrought with cheating girlfriends, bombing shows, crying, killing shows and not caring, lazy Hollywood elites, drug-addicted friends, and enemies—and dying friends.
From his upper-middle-class upbringing to being semi-homeless in a back office in Los Angeles, Eric has cared about one thing: being funny.
Although his goal is accomplished, his personal life remains a mess.
But that's what the demon promised long ago.
