In Cedarbell Grove, a family of Japanese squirrels has spent generations storing chestnuts, acorns, beechnuts, and pine seeds inside a hollow cedar known as the Bell Tree. Their careful habits have always kept them safe through winter. But when a late frost ruins the beech crop and a summer storm scatters much of the forest's food, the family faces a choice they never expected: guard their overflowing storehouse or share it with hungry neighbors.

What begins as a dispute over a few baskets of seeds grows into a test of trust, fairness, memory, and responsibility. As fear spreads through the grove, the squirrels discover that sharing does not mean giving without thought, and saving does not mean keeping everything for oneself. By learning to count openly, set fair rules, protect seed for spring, and ask every family to contribute what it can, they help the forest turn a private store into a common promise. This continuous fable explores generosity, stewardship, cooperation, and the difference between possession and responsibility.
