Set in the devastated world of Scott Medbury's bestselling series America Falls, comes The Dog and the Girl, an action-packed and surprisingly moving post-apocalyptic survival story - perfect for fans of gritty dystopian fiction and anyone who has ever known the fierce loyalty of a dog.

The dog

He was a trained police K-9 - disciplined, lethal, conditioned to follow his handler's commands, even into danger. They trained and worked together, and when the man retired, they went home together and he became something more than a working dog.

When the world ends, the voice that has guided him all his life goes silent. His handler - his lifelong companion - is gone, and with him, every command and routine, every certainty he has ever known is gone too. No one to protect. No one to obey. No reason to stay. All he has left is instinct, and his instinct tells him it's time to move on.

The girl

She is sixteen years old, alone on a dead highway, carrying a rifle she barely knows how to use and chasing one impossible goal: find her father, four hundred miles south, while America falls apart around her. She doesn't trust any person left alive in this world - and she trusts the big, silent dog that started shadowing her even less.

If he gets too close, she's ready to make sure he regrets it.

What neither the dog nor the girl know is that they're not alone on that road. Somewhere behind them, something else has picked up their scent...

If you loved A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World, The Heart of the Beast or Kyla Stone's Edge of Collapse this might just be the book you've been waiting for.
