His children want him to start dating. He drives to the reunion but tells them the lot is full.A few years after Ruthie’s death, John Merritt is doing what a decent widower is supposed to do. He pays the electric bill. He teaches statics to sophomores. He talks to his wife in the car and leaves her the vent. Lizzy and Thomas, in their forties and still startled to be the grown-ups, have decided their father's grief has expired. So, they RSVP him to his fiftieth high-school reunion and use a 1976 yearbook to point him toward four girls who once had their eye on him at school.John parks under the oak. He does not go in.What follows is not a makeover and not a second-chance love story. It is a season of coffee, air, laughter, and one hard cliff — and a woman who knew Ruthie well enough to say the only rule that matters. Happy is permitted. Replacement is not.The Lot Is Full is a story about a marriage that does not end when the calendar says it should, adult children trying to keep a father in the world, and a man who refuses to become a guest in his own house.A Marriage, After©2026 T.
