Fern Walker’s husband has disappeared and the Sheriff has a hunch that she’s guilty of murder.
Fern and Woody Walker have been married for seventeen years, the most recent of which have been hell on wheels. Claiming to be fed up with abusive customers, Woody quit his job and decided to live at Fern’s expense. Since then, they argue like cats and dogs. Some people have even heard her threaten his life. So when he disappears, Sheriff Pat Dupree assumes that she finally carried out her threat.
Despite her claims of innocence, Pat launches an investigation that could put Fern under the jailhouse. A vigilant man of the law, he sees his duty with clear eyes. But as he scours every corner for evidence of her wrongdoing, the town’s rumor mill kicks into high gear, churning out clues that turn into rabbit holes. Soon, he’s mired in a case that’s going nowhere fast—and has a surprising list of suspects that’s longer than his leg.
Set in a small Texas town, Bad Blood is a humorous whodunit that pits the wits of a seasoned sheriff against the will of a disgruntled wife. Faced with going to jail, Fern must dig deep for more courage than she’s ever shown as Pat tries to prove that she’s as guilty as sin.
