W. C. Fields
Here's one of radio's greatest comic rivalries: the blustery W. C. Fields facing off against the impudent Charlie McCarthy! You'll also hear Don Ameche, Dorothy Lamour, Nelson Eddy, and some guy named Edgar Bergen! The pomposity of Fields' comic persona clashes spectacularly with Charlie's, the foe of the haughty and the self-absorbed, in their no-holds-barred feud. Before and after their battles, the more composed Bergen plays host to a variety of guest stars, including Carole Lombard, Hoagy Carmichael, Rodgers & Hart, and more. These nine digitally remastered episodes feature Fields' first and last appearances as a regular cast member and his last appearance as a guest.
Episodes Include: Guests: Ann Harding, Rodgers & Hart, 05-09-37; Guest: Carole Lombard, 05-16-37; Guests: Josephine Hutchinson and Jose Iturbi, 05-30-37; Guests: Zazu Pitts and Hoagy Carmichael, 07-04-37; Guest: Gladys George, 07-11-37; Guests: Alice Brady and Allan Jones, 08-15-37; W. C. Fields' Last Regular Cast Appearance, 08-29-37; Guest: W. C. Fields, 09-21-41; Guest: W. C. Fields, 03-24-46.
