When the gray wolf was reintroduced to the US through Yellowstone National Park, it restored a balance of power among the wildlife in our most cherished national park and all across the West. Here is a story of one wolf, a grizzled "blue" wolf, modeled after one of the first to be set free.
Alix Thorssen is an art dealer in Jackson Hole. When a reclusive artist she's courting for a big charity auction asks her to look into the long-ago murder of her son, she plunges deep into a feud between wildlife activists, environmentalists, and ranchers.
The tangled threads of Derek Wylie's unsolved death lead to heated animosity in Jackson Hole, as the artist and her painting of a wolf become the catalyst in a brewing storm of rage, guilt, and dark secrets left behind in a trail of old blood.

"McClendon weaves a persuasive story, as haunting as the landscape it occupies." (San Diego Union-Tribune)
