Ayesha was once Annabel, an English girl who was kidnapped and reinvented by Akbar. Kit in turn kidnaps Ayesha, and tries to restore her to her original self. Their passion endures as they battle obstacles. Robin Bloodworth’s civilized and diffident tone brings beleaguered Kit to life. You can see this grim world through Kit’s tense and exhausted descriptions of life. Bloodworth’s deep and earnest voice also authenticates Kit’s obsessive interest in Ayesha.
