The mathematics involved is real, and it is presented here honestly and entirely in words, with no symbols and no formulas: what an axiom actually forbids, what Paul Cohen actually proved when he built new mathematical worlds out of thin air, why the size of infinity refuses to be pinned down. The trouble begins the moment those results are carried out of the country where they hold and spent in a country where they were never legal tender.

This is not a demolition. One chapter concedes, in full, the single place where the borrowed theorem genuinely pays for itself, because a book that cannot name its opponent's best move is not worth reading.
