Knights in shining armour are out…mechanics in grease-stained overalls are in…
Carmen Maclean needs to escape her toxic ex when the life they built together implodes, and she isn't ready to deal with the fallout. Throwing a few odds and ends into her trusty VW Bug, she heads for her brother's place in the mountains. However, bad luck isn't done with her yet, and Carmen's ancient car leaves her stranded on the side of a secluded highway.
Sawyer Stevenson is a divorced small-town mechanic still working for his dad. As bored as he is, the mundane existence shields him from any more heartbreak. Being tasked with fixing a car that's better off in a scrapyard is the most excitement he's had in a long time—until he meets the Bug's owner. Sawyer knows his life will never be the same when he lays eyes on Camen Maclean.
Neither Carmen nor Sawyer is ready for someone new, yet they can't stay out of each other's way…or keep their hands to themselves. The time for repairs is running out, and with goodbyes looming, should they risk their hearts or pull the spark plugs on the whole thing?
