Lois Duncan's classic young adult novel explores the class divides in small-town America, through the eyes of Lynn Chambers. Lynn is a wealthy and popular girl who finds herself shunned from the in-crowd at her high school when she doesn't become a debutante like the rest of the girls. An outcast for the first time in her life, she meets new and exciting friends who open her eyes to the world of the less fortunate. Emma Galvin gives Debutante Hill an exciting presence with a voice full of steely character that captures Lynn's vulnerability before it blossoms into strength.
