Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin was an American author of short stories and novels, mostly with a Louisiana Creole background. Today she is considered a forerunner of the feminist authors of the 20th century. This powerful little story concerns a Southern gentleman who disowns his wife because he fears she has "negro" blood. The truth makes for a dramatic ending.

It's either a testament to the prescience of author Kate Chopin or a point of frustration for our society - regardless Chopin's Desiree's Baby, though over 100 years old, is as relevant now as the day it was written. Jimcin Recordings handles the performance of this tragedy with the necessary sincerity, ensuring the tension and despair are felt in full, all the way through to the final fatal twist. Desiree's Baby is the heartbreaking story of miscegenation in a time when people couldn't reconcile their differences.
