A resilient real estate agent. A bodyguard with no one to protect.
When Evelyn's missing ex-husband turns up dead, many fingers point to her as the primary suspect. As Evelyn navigates an unfair investigation into her past, she has never needed her close circle of friends more.
Evelyn Ansel once made the terrible mistake of marrying a man with a roving eye and a cruel disposition. When Marty Kling left her to raise three small children on her own, she picked herself up and built a successful career as Echo Key's go-to real estate agent.
Marty was always bad news. When he went missing six years ago, she figured he'd left his latest wife for a new woman, just as he had done to Evelyn. And good riddance.
But Marty wasn't missing—and investigators are looking at Evelyn as a suspect in his death. Leave it to Marty to cause her just as much grief from beyond the grave as he did in life. Now she has to deal with Marty's nasty widow pointing the finger of blame, a determined DA who has Evelyn in his sights, and a sleazy journalist with a grudge.
As Evelyn feels the legal net closing around her, she turns to her circle of friends to help set her free.
