Neither Ellie Dawson nor Jonathan Hart are strangers to tragedy. Though they have never met, both have lost parents and sisters, and are alone in the world. When a matrimonial agency matches the two as husband and wife, it seems common ground isn’t enough to make a successful marriage…
From the absentee preacher to the onset of the Christmas season in Miles Gulch, Wyoming, Ellie’s engagement to Jonathan proves to be anything but simple. Running from her own sadness, she does her best to understand the rather odd, reclusive man who has agreed to marry her.
But as she begins to fall in love with him, she is devastated to realize he has different ideas entirely. Jonathan can’t help but brood over the deaths of his parents and sister in a white-out blizzard. And as Christmas arrives and the weather turns dangerous, his mind is on everything except for the young woman in front of him – no matter how appealing he finds her.
