Acerca de este título

An inspiring insight into one of the oldest extreme sports, this is the definitive story of fell-running. This is a complete portrait of one of the few sports to have remained utterly true to its roots. Richard Askwith’s journey takes him into a world of forbidding rockscapes, horizontal rain, fear, exhaustion and stunning natural beauty, as well as his own attempt at one of the toughest challenges imaginable: the Bob Graham Round, the sport’s traditional test of 42 Lake District peaks in 24 hours.

Gripping, funny and moving, this is a story that any aspiring runner, endurance athlete or mountain-lover will understand well: of extremity, heroism and the experience of a lifetime.

This had me laugh out loud on my training runs over the past few weeks. I loved the dead pan, matter of fact delivery. The stories often had me captivated by their quite unbelievable, limitless trajectories yet always grounded by sense of humility. I’m not a fell runner and never aspire to be but I love the outdoors and especially trail and mountain running so was able to relate to many of the situations, thoughts & approach to life many of the people talked about in this book.

Narration was excellent and would listen to this again, so much to absorb one listen is not enough. A real ode to a bygone era and people but an inspiration to a new one!

Hilarious & harrowing but utterly inspiring
