So, she makes a bet with Dani, and when Dani loses, the penalty is she must go to Venice to write. Once there, Dani is haunted both by her past and by thoughts of the elusive Sara, who teaches her about the dark history of the Venetian Jewish ghetto even as she piques Dani’s amorous interest.
