When conservation officer Beth Morrison hears of a shark in the waters of an Indiana lake chain, she, like everyone else, doesn't believe it. Not only does Beth have to put up with the wild stories, but she also has to navigate her way through the chauvinistic attitude of other law enforcement officers while dealing with the sudden reemergence of a former lover who betrayed her several years prior.
Her new assignment throws her in the middle of a long-standing residential feud and thrusts her face to face with Mark Taylor - the man who had once crushed her soul. Mark's daughter, Casey, must convince Beth and the others of the shark's existence before it strikes again. With another muggy Indiana summer weekend approaching, it's just a matter of time until the eight-foot bull shark discovers another meal.

"Volz effectively crafts the character of Beth as a steady voice of reason surrounded by chaos, unraveling a complicated plot that revolves around feuding neighbors as much as it does finned predators. A fast-paced and fun novel that takes delight in playing with readers’ expectations." -- Kirkus Review
