From the heart of the Appalachian Mountains come these folktales and folk rhymes for young children. In this recording of timeless children's tales, Davis, one of our most gifted storytellers, weaves for a new generation the same tales his grandmother told him as he sat in her lap so many years ago. As the oral tradition takes root in the hearts of each new generation of children, compelling folk rhymes and irrepressible folk stories such as these play a role in the transmission of our cultural wisdom: be wary of strangers, honor your elders, work hard, but play hard, too. Donald Davis has a gift for story; these stories have a gift for your child.

Reseñas editoriales

One of our most gifted storytellers Donald Davis shares with a new generation of listeners the stories that he used to hear from his grandmother as he sat on her lap many years ago. Davis uses his considerable folksy charm to retell beloved tales such as "Little Red Hen" and "The House that Jack Built", adding delightful little asides that enhance the textures of the stories and bring home their lessons: Be wary of strangers, honor your elders, and work hard. Davis has a gift for story; these stories have a gift for your child.
