Acerca de este título

I've known Tinsley since we were children, two souls tangled in a bond that defied explanation. She isn't just my best friend; she's the gravity that keeps me grounded. But somewhere along the way, the lines blurred between friendship and something darker—a relentless obsession that claws at my insides, consuming my every thought. The world sees a rockstar, but it's her who sees the parts of me I've kept hidden from everyone else—the darkness that threatens to destroy me.

When Tinsley steps into the world of professional boxing, the stage shifts, and so does the nature of my obsession. She joins me on my tour, and as we travel from city to city, a nagging feeling grows that someone is watching her, lurking in the shadows. Their looming presence begins to smother the air around her, casting her success in shadows. The protectiveness I've always felt for her intensifies, driving me to near madness.

With each day that passes, it becomes clearer to me that I'm no longer content with how things have been. I want more. My need for her has erupted into a raging inferno, incinerating any remnants of sanity. I'll sacrifice it all to keep her safe. I'm not seeking redemption; I'm embracing the darkness that defines me. Can my obsession protect her against what I can feel coming, or will it become what devours us both?

This is the third book in the Great Love series and, while I enjoyed the first two books, I think this one was not for me. First, I think the story took a darker turn than what I was expecting. I've only read one dark romance before and I think it's a subgenre that isn't for me. I understand that Hannah wanted to venture into a different side of romance books but when the first two in the series were lighter, especially Her Greatest Adventure, where Adalyn was literal sunshine, this was a complete 180 for me. The story itself wasn't my cup of tea.

Then there is the narration. I can't pinpoint what it is exactly. I have plenty of books in my audio library that are narrated by both Aiden Snow and Lucy Rivers and, while I haven't listened to all of them yet, I have heard some of their work before. Granted, this is the first book that I have listened to where they work together and this is the first time I have heard them work on a darker romance than before. I usually keep it more to a light, contemporary romance. I don't know if it was the subgenre or them working together but there was something that just didn't click for me. Now, I have heard work by Lucy before and she isn't my favorite narrator. I think she does good work but I always struggle with the speed that I need to listen to work because I can find her narrating style (or maybe it's the production) to be a bit slow at times. Aiden Snow usually has that mysterious playboy voice for me but this darker, sinister acting just wasn't doing it for me. I also feel that I don't need to speed up his parts quite as much.
This basically meant that I was switching between a 1.2 and a 1.35 speed depending on the chapter or I was frustrated at the speed of dialogue. Not to mention, again, the dark romance aspect didn't really do it for me. I think I would have liked this book more in written form rather than in audio.

I don't think this story was for me.
