A deep dive into the world of Gothic literature's most intriguing characters: Robert Lewis Stevenson’s JEKYLL and HYDE. From Hyde's origins in Victoriana to his many appearances in Literature & graphic novels, fairy tales, and his connection to the Werewolf myth, and Hyde on stage and celluloid from the Silent Era to the Naughties. We also explore Hyde's evolution in language and costuming, and, finally, Dr Henry Jekyll himself.
*Rona DeToriani is the author of horror books (latest: "Feral Forever"), and a documentary filmmaker (coming soon: "FANgTASY-The Vampire in the Mirror"). She has an MA in "Gothic Literature & Romanticism", and this work is based on and expands on her 2006 thesis of the same title.
*The former ballerina was also a work-and-travel bookseller, and loves old-school entertainment such as late-night reading, watching weird vintage movies and 90s TV series, and having tea at the local graveyard. She gardens passionately, but only by moonlight.
