Four gripping full-cast crime dramas from the BAFTA-winning writer of Z-Cars
Listen now to these four thrilling police dramas featuring Yorkshire-based detective duo Inspector Savage and Sergeant Eaves. Written and set in the 1980s, these stories are packed with all the intrigue, suspense and action you would expect from the creator of Z-Cars.
In Girl at Risk Inspector Savage and Sergeant Eaves are attached to a case involving an attack on a young girl, but there's more to be revealed than the guilty person. As the two policemen track down the assailant, is there more than the girl at risk? Starring John Bott as Inspector Savage and Henry Knowles as Sergeant Eaves.
It's not long ago that armed criminals were a rare event and, in The Takers, Inspector Savage believes it should be kept that way. As far as he is concerned, if you take a gun then you take the consequences… Aa heart-stopping listen from start to finish. Starring John Bott as Inspector Savage and Henry Knowles as Sergeant Eaves.
In Burglars Inspector Savage and Sergeant Eaves are confronted with a series of small crimes, obviously the work of youths. But then, suddenly, the pattern of these crimes changes - they become larger, more professional. Somebody, it would seem, is controlling it all. But who? Starring Leslie Sands as Inspector Savage and Sean Barrett as Sergeant Eaves.
Inspector Savage and Sergeant Eaves are brought in on a case in Muggers, where the theft involved the use of a knife. Before long it becomes apparent that two youths are the most likely suspects. Then some muggings occur, and Inspector Savage knows that unless they act quickly they will have a violent and possibly fatal crime on their hands. Starring John Bott as Inspector Savage and Sean Barrett as Sergeant Eaves.
Allan Prior was a prolific scriptwriter and novelist. He was the creator of influential police drama Z-Cars and also wrote several episodes of the 1970s science-fiction series Blake's 7. He co-created the BBC drama series Howards' Way and won several awards for his work including the Crime Writers' Association Award, Writers Guild of Great Britain Award, Grand Prix de Littérature Policière and a BAFTA. If you’re a fan of police dramas such as Vogel & Fraser or Colvil & Soames then this collection is the perfect listen.
These stories are set in the 1980s and include representations of dated attitudes from that time, as well as strong language.
