Oliver Postgate
This classic children's audiobook, read by Oliver Postgate, presents one of Ivor the Engine's original black-and-white adventures from the top left-hand corner of Wales. Created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin for Smallfilms, these timeless stories follow Ivor, Jones the Steam and the friends of the Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited as they carry choir members, deliver supplies and stumble into gentle comic adventures across the Welsh valleys. Warm, musical and full of old-fashioned charm, Ivor the Engine remains a landmark of British children's storytelling.
In The Endowment, the problem of Smoke Hill is finally solved in a thoughtful and responsible way that secures the dragons' future. It is a satisfying conclusion that gives the dragons lasting security.
Restoration note: First recorded in the 1950s, these classic performances have been lovingly remastered using the best surviving source material to provide the finest possible listening experience. While every effort has been made to improve clarity, the age and condition of the original recordings mean that occasional background interference or minor imperfections may still be audible. We hope you enjoy this beautifully restored classic.
