The National Book Award-winning author of The Penderwicks talks about the much-loved series that takes readers into the enchanting world of four very different sisters. Fans of classic children's literature will love the charming, old-fashioned style that still appeals to a contemporary audience. Actress Rita Wolf will perform an excerpt from one of the books.

Thalia Kids' Book Club events are lively talks between children's book authors and their fans (ages 9-12) plus one event for teens. Each event includes a creative writing project, a free-wheeling discussion with the audience, and a book signing. Sometimes an actor stops by to read from the book. Co-presented with Bank Street Bookstore.

Reseñas editoriales

Thalia Kids’ Book Club allows readers aged 9 to 12 to engage with their favorite writers. These interactive sessions allow authors to discuss their work with young audiences, sign books, and assign a related writing assignment. Here author Jeanne Birdsall discusses The Penderwick Series, a set of books based on the lives of four very different fictional sisters, their pure intentions, and their penchant for trouble. First becoming a photographer of renown, Birdsall began to write for children after turning 40. Her award-winning books have been translated into twenty different languages. Classically trained British-Indian actress Rita Wolf performs an excerpt in her crisp English accent. Wolf’s fast-paced narration allows you to imagine the carefully detailed action as multiple characters interact./p>
