It’s 1978. Farmer Tom Prescott’s wife and daughter have gone missing and police are coming up empty. The community rallies around him… at first. But then the rumors start. Was he wronged by his spouse? Or is he a murderer with an ability to cover his tracks? It’s always the husband, right?
Deputy Randy Bontrager is working a dead-end job in a small town when his best friend is accused of murder. His loyalties are split. Does he do his duty or abide lifelong friendship? Especially when it appears more than just Prescott’s family have gone missing?
Kansas Bureau of Investigation Agent Reggie King is the first black woman officer on the high plains. Her first murder investigation begins with a missing woman, but then unsolved case evidence begins to pile up and point at one man—Tom Prescott.
Is there a serial killer loose on the high plains? Is it Tom Prescott?
