Four lead characters, two men and two women, all single, serendipitously discover each other separately at a water well on a lavender flower farm. The farm has a restaurant and shop selling lavender-flavored pastries and lavender-scented candles, oils, and soaps. Unusually, the farm also has 6 luxury, structured treehouses for nightly rental. One lady obsesses about cooking with lavender, and the other obsesses about lavender scent. Each lead character is burdened in their adult lives as they compensate for extreme childhood psychological traumas. Their individual stories are different.
The thousands-of-years-old historic story of men first meeting a woman at water wells when they collect the day’s drinking water is repeated in the modern millennium. The bible describes Jacob’s Well.
The characters very guardedly, with much story humor, slowly move towards considering their first serious adult romances. The four, while frequently visiting the lavender farm individually, all become acquainted in a group. That complicates their developing friendships. These four misfits have to find how to pair into perfect-together couples. The story has entanglements and hurdles. A fatherless child learns to ride horses on the farm. The final romance solution is surprising and ends with warm-hearted humor. It is an insightful and happy novel.
