In today's world of instant potatoes and other forms of quick gratification, the short stories written by my dad, Bob Liter, and the first-chapter excerpt from the Bancroft Mystery Series will entertain listeners, delight romantics, puzzle mystery lovers, and especially appeal to Nick Bancroft Fans.
The stories involve light romance, sports heroics, social and relationship challenges, as well as a mystery or two to indulge in. Included in the collection is the first chapter of the Bancroft Mystery, "Murder Inherited," which is becoming a generational project. Nick Bancroft will become something like British author P. G. Wodehouse’s Mr. Mulliner, whose cousins, nieces, and nephews step into protagonist roles in their turn.
I am planning to write novels featuring Nick Bancroft’s niece, J. B. Bancroft. My son, Robert Lloyd Ogborn, is considering the possibility of taking up the Bancroft baton as Nick Bancroft III, the great-nephew of Liter’s original protagonist.
"If still waters run deep, the late Bob Liter’s quiet, pensive demeanor smoking a pipe while editing news stories for the Peoria Journal Star for decades hid a mind roaring with adventure, intrigue, fun and sex.” Bill Knight’s quote from the December 28, 2019, issue of The Community Word.
