As an American cultural hub, New York City's 92nd Street Y has few rivals. Every year the historically Jewish institution serves over 400,000 people who come to hear music, take classes, exercise, or listen to erudite and challenging conversations like this one between Newt Gingrich and Charlie Rose, in 2007. Because the program took place in advance of the 2008 presidential election, Rose has many questions for the former Speaker of the House about the Republican nomination, inquiries which Gingrich tries to evade. The two men also discuss the Iraq War and conclude by fielding questions from the audience.
