When Carson Napier's giant rocket crash-lands on the planet Venus, he knows that there will be no return to Earth for him. His only option: find a way to survive until other Earth rockets can reach him—if they can!
Beneath the eternal clouds, contrary to everything science predicted, Carson finds a race of strange people inhabiting trees that make the giant redwoods of California look like mere saplings.
Venus is a startling world where semi-civilized beings stand against frightful, bloodthirsty creatures in a brutal struggle for survival. It's a place of unmapped oceans dotted with great islands; a world whose trees pierce the clouds and whose cities squat on their branches; a planet whose inhabitants include the virtuous Vapajans, the ruthless Thorans, and a menagerie of nightmarish monsters, all struggling with each other for dominance.
Has Carson Napier arrived in time to save the Vapajans, or is his arrival the signal for their annihilation at the hands of the vicious Thorans to begin?
Carson Napier's adventures, and his search for the stunning Venusian Princess Duare, are a Burroughs novel in the best Tarzan tradition.
