Scout wants nothing more than to be a police dog, just like her mum and dad. But on the day of her big police dog test, a good deed costs her, causing her to fail. Scout isn't sure she'll ever earn her police dog badge—until, that is, a sausage thief strikes. It's up to Scout to catch the culprit and save the day.

"It’s a fun adventure story and children will love Scout and the other inhabitants of Little Barking." (LoveReading 4 Kids)
"Gill Lewis has established herself as the principal contemporary writer of animal stories, combining a vet's knowledge of her subject with a novelist's capacity for character and plot." (The Telegraph)
"Scout's good-humored, kidlike adventures are...an accessible read." (Kirkus)
