Sergeants Andy Carter and Jim Anderson dreamed of returning to civilian life. But their war has only just begun...
Following their fallen brothers home, Andy Carter and Jim Anderson struggle to carve out a normal life post-combat. Dead-end jobs are the least of the insults they must endure. Instead of the hero’s welcome they’d expected, they’re greeted with contempt or apathy by those waiting back home.
Betrayed by those they fought to protect and burdened with the guilt of surviving, the friends make the only choice that feels right—they reenlist.
After all, who’s going to help protect the soldiers left behind? Who knows the horrors that must be faced better than those who have been through the worst and survived? They find themselves right back in the fire with a new first squad and a new generation of soldiers. And what they’re about to face will leave them profoundly questioning the value of tactical gains and their tragic, wasteful cost.
Second Tour is the fifth novella in veteran Glyn Haynie’s gritty, action-packed Vietnam War series, and a new beginning for Andy Carter and first squad.
