William “Billy” Quantrill is destined to become America’s most notorious outlaw. As the Civil War threatens to destroy the country from within, Billy - a schoolteacher turned gunslinger - is working for the Pony Express when he is lured into a gunfight over a gambling debt set up by a dangerous and crooked politician. Just when he was beginning to make a name for himself, Billy is thrust into a world of politics as a hired gun.
After devising a plan to cut himself in on the profits by double-crossing his boss, things take a dramatic turn when Billy meets the love of his life, Sarah Kate, who becomes his moral compass. While living the life of an outlaw, Billy is recruited by a powerful secret society with plans to change the way the country is run. Giving up the life she knew, Kate follows Billy on his quest to understand the new world order. Driven by fate and circumstance, the young lovers unknowingly become tangled in a conspiracy poised to bring down the United States government.
