She has one chance to keep her promise to her dying sister. But success may bring an even greater pain... Posie never meant to enjoy a much better life than her sister Charlene, but such happened. Now, Char’s dying—she won’t survive the night’s passing—and Posie has this final chance at fulfilling her oath. She and Leo will bring Char’s special son Max to a new life in a better part of the city, no matter the cost.
Crowded streets, menacing cars and trucks, and a fast-approaching storm heavy with the season’s harsh promises threaten to derail their efforts. They’re already behind schedule, and the worst still lies ahead. Adding to her despair, Posie knows that without a doubt, success will leave a deep, painful emptiness inside her she’ll need the rest of her life to fill, if she can. But to succeed, they have to endure the cold sidewalks, uncaring pedestrians, and the unforgiving distance to their destination, else the suffering will be... forever.
