Stelle leaves her old life behind in Montreal, Canada and heads for Florida, U.S.A. with a suitcase and an adventurous spirit to live out the "last third of the pie." Stelle lands jobs as a servant, working for wealthy people on the Island, an exclusive area where old money hasn't given way to new. Happy, energetic and loving the beach, life is so good, Stelle must pinch herself at how lucky she is. Stelle writes home religiously, detailing her new life to her family back home. These are her letters. Entertaining, insightful and even thought-provoking, Stelle's letters share her stories: serving others, romantic entanglements, scandal, longing for family, loneliness, and finding salvation.
