In 2076 AD, Earth has been conquered and humanity brutally enslaved under the cruel tyranny of the Kalkar invaders whose evil was spawned from Va-nah, the Moon’s hollow interior. But when a desperate plea comes from the planet Barsoom, Julian 7th—descendant of the great hero who nearly defeated the Kalkars—is hurled upon a lonely quest into the heart of Va-nah. There he must team up with a U-ga princess and a fierce alien quadruped to launch a daring rescue to save a lost Barsoomian ambassadorial mission. Their success of depends on an unlikely alliance with John Carter, Warlord of Mars, to assail the enemy’s impregnable stronghold. If they fail, humanity—and the entire solar system—will never escape the iron grip of the Moon Men.

Reseñas de la crítica
"[Carey's] imagination is fertile and there is not a slack part in the entire 225 odd pages of this wonderfully illustrated book... Carey's experience allows him to mimic ERB's style so closely you almost wonder if the story came from some dusty vault in Tarzana, California... If you are an ERB fan like me, this book will easily transport you back to your youth, whether it was reading the old red Grosset and Dunlap reprints or an Ace paperback with a Roy Krenkel cover. The story's pace picks up so that by the last third there is a huge amount of action, with lots of ERB Easter eggs sprinkled along the way to delight faithful fans." --Andy Nunez, Ares Magazine
"It's a Burroughs pastiche, so there's obviously a significant romantic element, but Carey handles it so well, putting his own stamp on the work while remaining completely respectful to ERB's style and world-building. I've stated in a previous review that I regard Christopher Paul Carey as the best heroic fantasy author currently working and I see no reason here to change that opinion. This is another excellent, fast-paced read." --Dave Brzeski, The British Fantasy Society
