Beatrix Potter
Beatrix Potter's charming stories have enchanted children for over a hundred years. She brilliantly evokes the beauty of nature and country life, and each story brings to life characters listeners will remember and love for years to come. This collection includes eighteen favorite tales about Peter Rabbit, Tom Kitten, Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs. Tittlemouse, and the others. Let your children share in the tradition of Beatrix Potter and her animal family, a literary treasure for generations to cherish.
(P)2001 Blackstone Audio, Inc.Reseñas de la crítica
“Beatrix Potter’s animal stories, the first of which was published in 1902, have been a joy to generations of young readers.”
(Amazon.com, editorial review)“Her passion for the natural world lay behind the creation of her famous little books.”
(Amazon.com, editorial review)“[A] delightful production…Nadia May’s dramatization is very good. Peter Rabbit is young and reckless, Squirrel Nutkin as rude as can be, the cats sound dangerous, and the mice in ‘The Tailor of Gloucester’—well, they sound just like the most sociable mice I know.”
(AudioFile)“Her tales range from stories of escape from near-death to charming, eventless catalogues of animal domesticity. Each one, however, was written with a natural ear for what she described as ‘fine-sounding words.’ Her illustrations usually showed animal characters wearing human clothes but otherwise treated without sentimentality.”
(The Cambridge Guide to Literature in English)“The tiny books, which she designed so that even the smallest children could hold them, combined a deceptively simple prose, concealing dry north-country humor, with illustrations in the best English watercolor tradition.”
(Merriam Webster’s Encyclopedia of Literature)
