In savage Pellucidar—the land within the hollow center of the Earth—there are a million ways to meet one's end. It's a world of vicious men, prehistoric beasts, untamed wilderness, and hideous Buried People. And it's the scene of this exciting novel from Edgar Rice Burroughs, the greatest name in 20th-century adventure fiction.
When the hard-won peace of the primitive Empire of Pellucidar is shattered by the invasion of the fierce Korsar sea-rovers, Emperor David Innes sends his caveman horde to battle. One of the bravest of his club-swinging warriors is Tanar the Fleet One.
Despite the strange weapons of the invaders, David and his skin-clad band thrust back the Korsars and force them to flee in their ships--but with them they take several captives, including Tanar.
But the bronzed warrior from the kingdom of Sari is no easy prisoner to keep. The story of how Tanar outwits his captors rescues the Korsar chief's beautiful daughter, and fights to find his way home across unmapped jungles and unfriendly seas is an adventure novel truly worthy of Tarzan's creator.
