Twenty years have passed since Teradil led the Resistance to defeat the Brotherhood of the Dark Hand in the Dark War, inspiring every kingdom in the land to sign an eternal peace agreement. However, though peace was agreed upon that day, war looms again like a shadow in the distance….

Prince Aerdyn, son of King Rylan and Queen Emma, finds himself caught between three kingdoms who each vie for supremacy in the realm. His home kingdom of Teradil, which annexed three kingdoms after the war, is striving for further dominance. Austonia, embroiled in a royal power struggle, is determined at all costs to prevent its neighboring rival Teradil from becoming too powerful. Mayfield, traditionally an isolationist kingdom, is now trying to convince the others that they, as the oldest and most experienced kingdom in the land, would be best suited to lead.

During a summit in Mayfield where the Teradilians try to reach an agreement on these tense issues, Aerdyn meets Princess Cearia who helps him discover and grow his rare and extraordinary magical power along with her own. As the political landscape of the realm shifts suddenly, and darkness threatens to fall upon the land once more, Aerdyn and Cearia must choose between hiding in the shadows or stepping into the light.
