Peace has returned to Mistwood Academy… but not for long.
When students and teachers start vanishing without a trace, Willow, Thistle, and Blake suspect something magical—and sinister—is afoot. But instead of finding monsters or curses, they find something even stranger: dogs.
Lots of dogs.
Dogs that act suspiciously like the missing people.
Their investigation leads to the shocking discovery of Dr. Hairy Howls—a brilliant, bowtie-wearing canine and the former pet of a professor—who’s had enough of being called “man’s best friend.” With a genius mind, a massive ego, and a master plan called Project Pawfection, he’s determined to prove dogs aren’t just equal to humans… they’re superior.
And he’ll prove it by turning everyone into dogs.
With time running out, magical chaos spreading, and bark-powered henchhounds closing in, the trio must stop Howls before the world goes fully four-legged.
They fight. They resist.
But in the end…
They fail.
The Barkening is the action-packed, hilarious, and surprisingly emotional kickoff to the final arc of the Willow & Thistle series—where the world goes to the dogs, and only three unlikely heroes are left to bring it back.
