Acerca de este título
The time of William Carey was unique in Church history. It was a time when missions had almost entirely ceased because of an extreme version of the doctrine of predestination. This belief is summed up in the words of J. R. Ryland (father of John Ryland) to William Carey at that fateful conference that would change Carey’s life forever. When Carey stood up to ask about the lack of missionary efforts to the lost, J. R. Ryland responded, “Young man, sit down. When God pleases to convert the heathen, he will do so without your help or mine.”
These heartless, unscriptural words so moved William Carey, that he wrote his famous book "An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens," and after publishing it promptly went to India as a missionary, stirring once again a passion for missions in the Christian world. This is his story. May you be blessed as you read this volume, and be set on fire with a desire to extend the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth.
