A timeless holiday classic of hope, generosity, and the true meaning of Christmas.
Born on a crisp, snowy Christmas morning, young Carol Bird has always been the bright, shining heart of her family. True to her name, she spends her childhood filling her home with music, laughter, and an unbreakable giving spirit.
But as her tenth birthday approaches, a severe illness confines Carol to her bed. Though her body is weak, her heart remains larger than ever. Looking out her window, she spots the Ruggles family—a large, lively, and deeply impoverished brood living at the back of the property.
Rather than mourning her own illness, Carol sets out to plan a magnificent surprise. She is determined to give the nine Ruggles children a Christmas celebration they will never forget, complete with a grand feast, laughter, and gifts. What follows is a beautiful, bittersweet afternoon where the barriers of wealth and circumstance melt away under the magic of a child’s love.
Perfect for fans of Little Women and A Christmas Carol, this beautifully touching Victorian tale has captivated generations. It stands as a gentle, enduring reminder that the greatest treasures in life are the ones we give away.
“A beautiful mixture of gentle humor and heartwarming tenderness.”
