The Blackie Blackman Gang, Volume One is the first of the series of Will Cannon novels. The story begins with Will Cannon on the trail of the Blackman Gang and he is attacked by a bushwacker. Will finds some papers on the bushwacker that indicates that Blackman has put a 10,000 dollar bounty on his head. Will goes to the small Texas town of Estilline and gets his friend, Texas Ranger Duke Wills, to join the hunt for the Blackman Gang. Will also meets a beautiful young woman in Estilline that has been victimized by the Blackman Gang. The story goes back in time to describe some of Will's life in Virginia and the events that happened after Blackman and his gang killed Will's family.
Will and Duke leave Estilline and begin their epic journey to find and kill the members of the Blackman Gang that are living at some of the ranches Blackman has stolen and in Amarillo where Blackman is running an opium ring. Will wants to cut down the odds against him before he goes to Tascosa and finally confronts Blackman. The Blackie Blackman Gang, Volume Two picks up the story from there.
