The Camp Before Dawn: The Vanished CaravanDaniel Mercer came to the desert looking for history.

As an archaeologist investigating the remains of an ancient caravan route, he expects to find buried artifacts, forgotten settlements, and clues left behind by travelers from centuries ago. What he doesn't expect is to encounter something that seems to have survived the passage of time.

One night, stranded on a lonely desert road, Daniel discovers a camp glowing beyond the dunes.

There are tents beneath the stars.

Camels resting beside the fire.

Lanterns swaying in the darkness.

And strangers who welcome him as though they have been expecting him.

An elderly man offers him food and coffee—but before Daniel goes to sleep, he gives him a warning:

Leave before sunrise.

When Daniel wakes, the camp has disappeared.

In its place stands a motel and gas station that Daniel is certain wasn't there the night before. Even stranger, the people working there seem completely familiar with what happened.

They tell him other travelers have seen the camp.

Some have seen it more than once.

And all of them were given the same warning.

Unable to leave the mystery alone, Daniel follows a trail of ancient symbols into the surrounding desert. What he uncovers connects the vanished camp to the very caravan route he came to study—and suggests that the road may still exist somewhere beneath the sand.

Then Daniel discovers a photograph he doesn't remember taking.

The image shows him asleep inside the mysterious camp.

And the date on the photograph is impossible.

Tomorrow.

Now Daniel must decide how far he is willing to follow a road that seems to exist outside of time.

Because the desert doesn't always bury its secrets.

Sometimes, it waits for someone to come looking.
